Free birth chart calculator

Your whole birth chart, calculated free

Enter your birth date, time, and place — get your Sun, Moon, rising, every planet by sign, house and degree, your chart wheel, and your aspects. Computed in your browser with the same engine as the MoonQ app.

Free. Nothing about your birth is sent anywhere — the whole chart is computed on your device.

A birth chart (or natal chart) is a map of the sky at the exact moment and place you were born — your Sun, Moon, and rising sign plus every planet placed by zodiac sign, house, and degree. This free birth chart calculator computes yours in your browser, the same way the MoonQ app does, and draws your chart wheel and the aspects between your planets.

Calculate your birth chart

Enter your birth date, time, and place. Everything is computed on your device with the same engine as the MoonQ app — nothing about your birth leaves this page.

The calculator needs JavaScript to compute your own chart. A full worked example is shown below — the page works either way.

A worked example, fully calculated

So the page is useful even before you enter anything (and with JavaScript off), here is one complete chart the calculator produces — a neutral example the MoonQ app uses as its own reference chart.

Example birth — 4 April 1989, 11:00 — Ulyanovsk, Russia: Sun 14°29′ Aries, Moon 18°07′ Pisces, rising 18°52′ Cancer.

How to read your birth chart

A finished chart looks like a lot at once. Read it in layers and it settles into a picture of a person.

1. Start with your Big Three

Your Sun is what you're growing into, your Moon is how you feel and self-soothe, and your rising (ascendant) is how you arrive — the doorway people reach you through. The rising sign needs your birth time, because it moves roughly every two hours.

2. Place each planet by sign and house

Every planet sits in a zodiac sign (how it expresses) and a house (the area of life it colours). Mercury is how you think and talk; Venus, how you love and value; Mars, how you go after things. In the table above, each body shows its sign, exact degree, house, and whether it was retrograde at your birth.

3. Read the aspects — how planets talk to each other

Aspects are the angles between planets: a conjunction fuses two energies, a trine or sextile lets them flow, a square or opposition creates tension that often becomes drive. The smaller the orb (the degrees off exact), the louder the aspect.

4. Let the wheel tie it together

The chart wheel places your rising sign on the left horizon and lays the houses out from there, so you can see which parts of the sky — and life — were most crowded at your birth. That clustering is usually where a chart has the most to say.

Birth chart calculator questions

What is a birth chart?

A birth chart is a snapshot of the sky at the exact time and place you were born. It shows your Sun, Moon, and rising sign plus every planet by zodiac sign, house, and degree — the raw material astrology reads to describe how you think, feel, love, and come across.

Is this birth chart calculator really free?

Yes — completely free, with no sign-up. Enter your birth details and the full chart (placements, wheel, and aspects) is computed right in your browser. For the warm, plain-language reading of what it all means, that lives in the MoonQ app.

Do I need my exact birth time?

For your rising sign, houses, and angles, yes — those depend on the birth time, which is why the rising moves every couple of hours. If you don't know it, tick “I don't know my birth time” and the calculator casts your chart for noon and honestly leaves the rising and houses out, the same way the MoonQ app does.

How accurate is it, and what house system does it use?

Positions are computed to arc-second precision and displayed to the arcminute, using the tropical zodiac and whole-sign houses. The calculator runs the very same engine as the MoonQ iOS app — the worked example above is verified identical to the app's output.

Is my birth data private?

Yes. The calculation happens entirely on your device — your birth date, time, and place are never uploaded. The city list used for coordinates is bundled with the page, so even the place lookup works offline.

What does “Big 3” mean on my chart?

Your Big 3 is your Sun, Moon, and rising sign — the three placements that most quickly make a chart feel like a real person. They're shown as the first three cards in your result.

See your chart read warmly, every day

The calculator gives you the map. MoonQ reads it in plain words — your Big 3, your soulmate sketch, compatibility, and any question you bring it.
